MEMORIAL DAY 2023 – MONDAY, MAY 29TH
Our annual Memorial Day Mass and Remembrance Breakfast will be held on Monday, May 29th, in the OLGC Cemetery at the outdoor altar area starting at 9:00 a.m. Memorial Day is the holiday set aside to pay tribute to persons who died while serving in the U. S. military. That which started as Decoration Day following the Civil War became Memorial Day after WWI.
Following Mass, a brief special ceremony will be conducted at the adjoining Veterans’ Plaza to dedicate and name the plaza in the memory of George N. Roberts, a WWII Purple Heart recipient who is interred in the cemetery. A reception and sit-down breakfast will follow on site. All parishioners and friends of the Roberts family are cordially invited to share in this memorial. Tents, along with tables and chairs will be provided for Mass and Breakfast participants. All are cordially invited to share this special day in OLGC.
